Hexham Golf Club Construct Brand New Practice Facility
Hexham Golf Club is a traditional parkland course on fast draining land on the south side of the River Tyne, with stunning views over the convergence of the North and South Tyne countryside. Hexham Golf Club recently constructed a brand new practice facility; they have built the facility inside a listed walls compound on their golf course, creating a tranquil area to practice golf.
Inside of the walls features different types of surfaces and practice facilities, including one large, real green, 150m2 worth of synthetic infill target green (installed by European Golf), four 2m x 4m tee stations enclosed with wooden sleepers, and four large bunkers. The green has six holes with four different tee stations all ranging in distances from 20 yards to 120 yards.
European Golf used their 33mm pile height ‘Tour Pro Infill’ product, with a cushion underlay, which was contoured to the client’s specification. We then installed the silica-graded sand, which is then top-dressed with green coloured sand to finish. The green is then rolled to the speed that the golf club requires so that it is realistic to the green speed on the course. The total time for the install was six days, and the rest of the facility is now in preparation and scheduled to be open for next year.
